Botox in Cutler Bay
Smooth expression lines on the forehead, between the brows and around the eyes — with a conservative injection technique designed to keep your face looking like yours.
What Botox actually does
Botox is a purified form of botulinum toxin type A. Injected in very small amounts into a specific muscle, it temporarily blocks the nerve signal telling that muscle to contract. Because the muscle relaxes, the skin above it stops folding — and the lines that folding creates soften or disappear.
This makes Botox best suited to dynamic wrinkles: the lines that appear when you frown, raise your eyebrows or smile. Static lines that are visible when your face is completely at rest are usually better treated with dermal fillers or PRP facial rejuvenation, and we will tell you honestly which approach fits your face.
Areas we treat
- Glabellar lines — the vertical "11s" between the eyebrows
- Forehead lines — the horizontal lines that appear when you raise your brows
- Crow's feet — the fine lines fanning out from the outer corners of the eyes
- Bunny lines — the small creases across the bridge of the nose
- Brow lift — a subtle lift by relaxing the muscles that pull the brow down
- Excessive underarm sweating (hyperhidrosis)
What the appointment is like
Your first visit starts with a conversation, not a needle. We look at your face at rest and in motion, talk about what bothers you, and agree on how much movement you want to keep. Some patients want lines gone entirely; many want to look rested rather than frozen. Both are valid, and the dosing is different.
The injections themselves take about ten to fifteen minutes. We use a very fine needle, and most patients describe it as a brief pinch. No anesthesia is needed and you can drive yourself home and return to work the same day.
Results and timing
You will not see anything immediately. Botox typically begins to take effect in three to five days, with the full result visible at ten to fourteen days. We schedule a complimentary two-week check for new patients so we can assess the result and add a small touch-up if one area needs it.
The effect generally lasts three to four months. It wears off gradually rather than all at once. Patients who treat consistently often find the interval lengthens over time, because the treated muscles become less active.
Safety and who should not have it
Botox has been used cosmetically for more than two decades and has a well-documented safety profile when administered by a trained clinician who understands facial anatomy. The most common side effects are minor: small bruises at injection sites, temporary redness, or a mild headache in the first day or two.
Botox is not appropriate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a neuromuscular disorder such as myasthenia gravis or ALS, or have a known allergy to any component of the formulation. We review your full medical history and current medications before your first treatment — one of the practical advantages of being treated in a clinic that also handles primary care.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Botox cost in Cutler Bay?
Botox is priced per unit, and the number of units depends on the area treated and your muscle strength. The forehead and glabellar area together typically require more units than crow's feet alone. We quote an exact price at your consultation before anything is injected, with no obligation to proceed. Call (305) 457-3154 for current pricing.
Does Botox hurt?
Very little. We use an ultra-fine needle and most patients describe it as a quick pinch lasting a second or two per injection point. No numbing cream or anesthesia is normally required, though we can apply topical numbing if you are particularly needle-sensitive.
Will I look frozen or expressionless?
Not if it is dosed correctly. A frozen appearance comes from over-treating. Our default approach is conservative — we would rather start lower and add a small amount at your two-week follow-up than overshoot. Tell us at your consultation how much movement you want to keep and we will dose to that.
How long does Botox last?
For most patients, three to four months. Several factors shorten it: strong facial muscles, a fast metabolism, intense exercise, and smoking. Patients who treat regularly often find the interval gradually lengthens because the treated muscles weaken with consistent use.
What should I avoid after treatment?
For the first four hours, stay upright and avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas so the product stays where it was placed. Skip strenuous exercise, saunas, hot yoga and alcohol for 24 hours. Avoid facials or facial massage for two weeks. Normal activity, makeup and skincare are fine after a few hours.
At what age should I start Botox?
There is no correct age. Most patients start somewhere between their late twenties and mid forties, usually when a line begins to remain visible after the expression has stopped. Starting when lines are still dynamic tends to require fewer units than waiting until they are deeply etched.
Is Botox covered by insurance?
Cosmetic Botox is an elective treatment and is not covered by health insurance. Botox for certain medical indications, such as chronic migraine or severe underarm hyperhidrosis, is sometimes covered depending on your plan and documentation. We can discuss whether your situation might qualify.
