Lip filler in Cutler Bay
Hyaluronic acid lip augmentation for definition, hydration and balance — dosed conservatively, built over more than one session when needed, and fully reversible if you do not like the result.
What lip filler can realistically do
Hyaluronic acid filler adds volume, defines the border, corrects asymmetry, lifts a downturned corner and restores the fullness that thins with age. It also hydrates, because hyaluronic acid binds water — which is part of why lips look fresher rather than simply bigger when the work is done well.
What it does not do is change the shape of your mouth into someone else's. Your lip proportion is set by the underlying anatomy, the length of the upper lip and the position of your teeth. A good result looks like your lips on a good day.
We start conservatively, on purpose
The most common reason people dislike lip filler is that too much was placed too fast. Lips swell substantially in the first 48 hours, which means the appearance immediately after treatment is not the result — and chasing that look with more product is how people end up overfilled.
Our default is to use a modest amount, let it settle for two weeks, and add more at a review if you want it. Building up over two sessions costs the same as doing it in one, and the outcome is better. If you came in wanting a dramatic change, we will tell you honestly whether it is achievable on your anatomy.
Reversibility matters
We use hyaluronic acid fillers only. They can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, which means an unsatisfactory result, a lump, or an asymmetry is correctable rather than permanent.
We do not place permanent or semi-permanent fillers in lips, and we would urge you not to have them placed anywhere else either. Silicone and similar products cannot be removed without surgery, and complications from them can appear years later.
Safety: the complication that matters
The serious risk with any facial filler is vascular occlusion — filler entering or compressing a blood vessel, cutting off the blood supply to the skin. The lip and the area around the nose are among the higher-risk zones for this. It is uncommon, but it is a true emergency, and it is the reason who injects you matters more than where you get the best price.
Treatment here is performed by a licensed clinician who knows the facial vascular anatomy, uses aspiration and slow low-pressure injection technique, and keeps hyaluronidase on site so a problem can be treated immediately rather than after a drive across town. You get a direct phone number for the days after your appointment.
Because this is also a medical practice, we take a full history first. Blood thinners, autoimmune conditions, a history of cold sores, recent dental work and pregnancy all change the plan — and a pop-up injector party will not ask you about any of them.
What to expect afterwards
Expect swelling for two to four days and the possibility of bruising for up to a week. Lumpiness in the first fortnight is common and usually settles; we review you rather than leaving you to wonder. Results typically last six to twelve months in lips, which metabolise filler faster than most areas because they move constantly.
If you get cold sores, tell us — treatment can trigger an outbreak, and we can prescribe antiviral cover beforehand. Avoid alcohol, strenuous exercise and aspirin-type medications for 24 hours. Plan around any event: do not book this the week of a wedding.

Frequently asked questions
How much does lip filler cost?
Lip treatment starts at $500. The final figure depends on how much product is needed, and you will be told the price before anything is injected. If we build the result over two sessions, you are not charged twice for the same volume of product.
How long does lip filler last?
Usually six to twelve months. Lips break filler down faster than static areas such as cheeks because they are in constant motion, and metabolism varies between individuals. Most patients come back somewhere around the nine-month mark.
Does it hurt?
Less than people expect. Topical numbing cream is applied beforehand, and the fillers we use contain lidocaine, so the discomfort decreases as the treatment proceeds. Most patients describe pressure rather than pain.
Will my lips look fake?
Not if the dosing is sensible. The overfilled look comes from too much product placed too quickly, often repeated before the previous treatment had settled. Starting conservatively and reviewing at two weeks is the single most effective way to avoid it.
Can lip filler be removed?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler is dissolved with an injection of hyaluronidase, usually within a day or two. That reversibility is precisely why we do not use permanent products in lips.
How much swelling should I expect?
Significant swelling for the first 48 hours, easing over three to four days. Bruising, if it happens, can last up to a week. Lips look their final shape at around two weeks, which is when we review you.
How soon before an event should I have it done?
At least two weeks, and ideally three. Booking lip filler in the same week as a wedding, a photo shoot or a holiday is the most common planning mistake we see.
Can I have lip filler while pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. Dermal filler is not given during pregnancy or breastfeeding. There is no evidence of harm, but there is also no safety data, and an elective cosmetic treatment is not worth an unquantified risk. We will happily see you afterwards.
What happens if something goes wrong?
Minor issues such as lumps or asymmetry are corrected at your review, or dissolved. The serious complication is vascular occlusion, where filler compromises the blood supply to the skin. It is uncommon, but it requires immediate treatment with hyaluronidase, which we keep on site. You will be given a direct number to call if anything concerns you, and we would much rather see you for nothing than have you wait.
